As the foliage and trees are removed from the chapel structure and the earth is dug from around it ....many uneasy looks are aimed at the chapel and in particular the roof. Will any of it survive our Grand plans?! So it is decided to remove the roof-tiles to ease its burden a bit- every little helps.

To have any hope of this chapel ever being a three bedroom home to us we need it to be flat with no steps from front to extended back otherwise we have no chance of fitting a first floor in. Currently there are two steps up to the exit at the back onto a patio which will be our living room. So the next job is to dig down around the sides and rear of the chapel so that we can get out at floor level. A lot of dirt (and strange garden structures) have to go....... Next we secure the site by putting up the garden fencing where it is needed and site fences where it is needed temporarily. This needs to be done quite quickly after the shed demolition so the neighbours can let their dogs out and we can get on with The Grandish Design. We also clear the site around the chapel where the extension and new patio are going and to allow access for all the builders. |
